Traffic Camera Uptime Report
We run our own HTTP checks against every official state DOT traffic camera in this directory, on a rolling schedule, around the clock. This page reports what those checks find: how many cameras are verified live right now, how many respond but serve an old picture, and how many are dead. No agency self-reporting involved.
- Best-run network measured: Utah at 100% of 2,091 cameras verified live.
- Lowest live share: Georgia at 17.4% (3,338 of 4,043 cameras stale or dead right now).
- Most stale frames: Georgia, where 55.3% of cameras respond but show an out-of-date image, an easy failure to miss, since the picture looks fine until you check its timestamp.

Methodology
- Every active camera is checked on a rolling schedule; a check fetches the camera's image or stream endpoint directly from the agency.
- Live means the feed responded with a current image. Stale means it responded, but the image is older than the camera's own refresh interval suggests it should be. Dead means the feed is not returning a usable image.
- The 14-day check pass rate is the share of all valid checks in the last 14 days that came back live. Checks where our checker itself failed are excluded from every number on this page.
- When we find a measurement fault on our side, we exclude the affected checks rather than publish numbers we know are wrong. Currently excluded: August 27-31, 2026, when a caching bug in our checker made healthy cameras look out of date. States without enough valid checks after an exclusion are listed as not yet measurable until fresh evidence accumulates.
- Only fleets of 50 or more cameras are ranked, so small partial feeds do not distort the comparison.
- Snapshot figures refresh continuously as checks complete; this page is regenerated every few minutes.
